STUART REA-RITCHIE
LEAD VOCALIST Manchester born and Lincolnshire bred, Stuart has an eclectic taste in music from which he draws his vocal influences from. Not ashamed to admit it, Stuart's vocal inspirations growing up were that of Mariah Carey in her prime, Lionel Ritchie, Gary Barlow and Gordon Sumner (AKA Sting) to name but a few and most recently that of Kelly Jones (Stereophonics), Jessie J, Justin Timberlake and Adele. Karaoke's and charity events were Stuart's only release prior to joining the band in February 2013, having met David Crabb at one of his monthly jam sessions for a 'mini-audition' he was welcomed into the band with open arms fitting into the role of lead vocalist straight away having never been in a band before. This doesn't phase him however as you can tell he pulls out all the stops in each and every performance he makes. With great aspiration, Stuart has his radar set on helping the band take that next leap into original stardom, writing his own lyrics whenever he gets the chance - Keep your ears peeled people! |
JOSH DUNNE
DRUMMER Self-taught, confident and loud would best describe the Devon born drummer. Having played since the age of 14, Josh has acquired a wide range of different playing styles through his own practise and experience within the music industry. Josh joined the band in 2014 and gave Josh the opportunity to excel and expand his passion for music. Having only previously worked with original bands, his first one being ‘A Dirty Downfall’. Gaining the addition of Josh, not only meant he can progress as a musician, but also increased the experience level in live performances for Box Pavilion as Josh has previously played at many big live events in and around Hull. Alongside the band, Josh studies Music Performance, at degree level, with the dream of essentially making it big as a professional working musician. His commitment and ambition is fuelled by his biggest musical inspirations, Chad Smith (Drummer for Red Hot Chili Peppers), Michael Jackson, The Talking Heads and The Maccabees. |
DAVID CRABB
RHYTHM GUITARIST & FOUNDER David has been playing guitar now for about 5 years and joins Box Pavilion as his first (and hopefully last!) stint in the local limelight. A quality rhythm guitarist, technically perfect, David can turn a plectrum to any tune he wants and can knock it out flawlessly each and every time. Originally performing just at jam sessions and open mic nights around the county along with friends, David brings the confidence he gained during these sessions into his performances and it shows. David's musical inspirations come from listening to greats such as The Stereophonics, The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. His favourite guitarists and influences come from John Frusciante (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) and the legendary Jimi Hendrix. A forward thinker within the band, David is always suggesting new tunes to test the boys. An aspirational lad, he's always got one eye on taking Box Pavilion into the realms of original music and making a greater name for themselves - Time will tell, but the outlook is great! |
DAVE HOOKEM
BASS GUITARIST & BACKING VOCALS Dave joined Box Pavilion just before their first gig (perfect timing!) and getting straight up to speed with the set list. Dave has been playing for the best part of a decade after first picking up the bass guitar when his friend needed a bass player for his band 'Timberwolf', playing original music. Since then he's never looked back. Dave went on to join another originals band called 'The Chase' with his brother-in-Law playing gigs all over the UK. After moving bands and a change of name he found himself part of the band 'Freefall' and also a current local originals band called 'The Dropdeads', again with his Brother-in-Law Ric and his best friend Dan supporting some big name bands and still gigging every now and again. Having lead a covers life of classical rock Dave decided he wanted a change of sound and scenery, so when he saw an add for a bass player with similar music taste, he made a call and the rest is history, leaving his covers band and joining Box Pavilion in April 2013. Dave's influences come from The Jam, The Beatles, Kasabian, The Rolling Stones, Fish and Chips (Under rated as a great British muse!), The Black Keys as well as many many more. |
